the cinema, bowling and many other events. If you have
a child in this age group and think they may be
interested in attending then please call the office and
leave their names.
If any of your
children (patient or siblings) are 13 or over, they are

emphasis is on fun and being with children who find
themselves in similar circumstances.

Do You Want?
We at CHICS would really like to
know what you would like to see the committee offering by
way of support. Would you please email Elaine with your
suggestions. We are a family support group and we would
love to develop this role even further. We are looking at
inviting speakers along to the meetings to give practical
help and advice on anything you would like. So please
think about it and email Elaine with any
idea, it would be great to build up the attendance of the
There will be No More Paper
Newsletters. We are wasting far too much time
and money (approx. £1000 a year) sending out paper
newsletters. In this day and age, there are more
efficient, faster and less costly ways to view the
newsletter (email, CHICS Website) so we have taken the
decision not to produce paper newsletters from 1 July
2016. This means that if you are currently receiving a
newsletter via the traditional post, these will stop.
Please provide us with an email address that the
electronic newsletter can be sent to by emailing Eddie.
you like to be a volunteer for CHICS, its a great
opportunity to meet other volunteers who give up their
free time to support CHICS at events such as
fundraising, manning stalls, bag-packing, helping out at
social events, etc. . Please e-mail Eddie or telephone the CHICS office - 0151
523 8886 - if you are interested.
Trips - Get More Involved
Give us your ideas. Have any of you
had a great day out this year? Would you recommend it to
others? Well we would love to hear from you. We are
constantly on the look out for places to go. As you can
appreciate CHICS has visited many places over the years,
but we are constantly looking for fresh ideas so please
start thinking and phone the office with your ideas. Or
better still come a long to a meeting.
Request to Parents:
Do we have any parents who are
willing to be CRB checked? This is because we sometimes
require individuals to supervise children on route to
holidays, day trips, holidays etc. If you are willing
please call office.
CHICS as a charity can only
grow with your support:
a family member may be able to organise fundraising
amongst friends, neighbours or in the workplace. Ask
people you know to remember CHICS - Childrens
Cancer Support Group - if they are ever requested to
nominate a charity to receive a donation or funding.
Your childs school may raise
funds through a cake bake, non-uniform day, summer or
Christmas fair by having a stall with tombola, we can
also give you CHICS merchandise to sell - see "Items
for Sale" below.
Have you got any ideas how we can do
new and exciting fundraising???
CHICS have a
supply of collection boxes. We are requesting member's to
go in to their local shops and ask if they can leave a
box to be filled. If you can place a box please contact
Eddie at the CHICS office. Anyone who has placed a
collection box and has not had it emptied for a while,
could you either chase it up, or let us know and we can
go and empty it.
have a CHICS collection box that is not in use? If so,
please could you return it so that we can reallocate it
to another fundraiser.
We have received our new stock items
for sale and these include pens 60p, trolley coins £1.00, pins
£1.00, mugs £1.50 and T-shirts £3.50 all with CHICS
logo. If you or any of your family can sell any items at
work or school please contact Eddie at the office on 0151
We have got the gold ribbon medals to
sell which are £1 each. If anyone can sell them, can you
call the office please?
You cannot fail to have noticed how
the wrist bands, started by the Lance Armstrong
Foundation to raise money for Cancer Charities have taken
the nation by storm. So we thought we would have our very
own CHICS band done. What we need now are our members to
sell as many as they can, if you are able to do this ring
the office and we will get these out to you.
Monthly Donation by Direct Debit:
Most of you will have seen adverts
on TV asking you to donate a minimum of £2 a month
for a particular charity. Well a number of families
now donate to CHICS by direct debit each month.
CHICS does not need any of your bank details as it is
your bank that all arrangements are made with. If you
would like to make a small monthly donation to CHICS
please contact Judy for a form.
Just Giving Web Page:
CHICS now have a page on Just Giving
(www.justgiving.com). If you
are thinking of donating to CHICS online you can do it
via this site, or it can be used to sponsor anybody who
is taking part in a sponsored event for CHICS.

families who have not been successful in securing places
